Rick really did get on with everyone in our halls of residence. He was always approachable and made friends with people from many different backgrounds. In an intolerant world, we need more easygoing people like Rick. He probably wouldn’t like me being so serious so I’ll also say that we’ll all miss his excellent sense of humour. Fifteen years on from living with him, I can still recall the many ways he made us laugh. His impression of something bizarre we once saw on the streets of Lambeth was as funny as it gets.
